The vines for this prestige Shiraz from McLaren Vale are all thirty-five years and older. The wine enjoyed fifteen days skin contact. Not under screwcap and very much the heavy bottle syndrome. Trophy, KWV Best Fortified 2021. 44% Tinta Barocca and 56% Touriga Nacional VINIFICATION Directly after picking, the grapes were cooled to 5°C, crushed and cold-soaked for five days. Thereafter, the grapes underwent a cycle of gentle punch downs six times per day and were then fortified with a combination of wine and un-aged brandy spirits when the desired sugar levels were reached. It ticks all the boxes for us....lifted aromatics, good acidity, full flavoured with a long, refreshing dry finish. Hard to beat. The Lynn family have been residents of the Penola - Coonawarra district for over four generations, starting out as Store-Keepers and then graduating into grazing. The property on which Majella now stands was originally owned by Frank Lynn and bought by his nephew, George, in 1960 for Merino wool production. Always a major part of the annual Mount Pleasant production (largely contract-grown), and for some years of modest quality and deep discounts. The quantity made these days is far less, most surprising its estate origins and its quality – a classic medium-bodied, finely balanced wine proudly flying the flag for Mount Pleasant and Hunter Valley shiraz. Bianco Bianco is a naturally semi-sparkling wine made for Rocca delle Macìe in the province of Trento, within one of the most suitable areas for the cultivation of grapes intended for the production of spumante. Once harvested, the Chardonnay (100%) grapes are fermented without the skins, and then the base wine undergoes natural second fermentation. Bianco Bianco is fresh and fragrant, with overtones of just-ripe fruit.
